Renovated Clifton shotgun home mixes eclectic items, handmade art

Right before Kay and Jon Wissing lived together in their two-bedroom shotgun in Clifton, the household belonged exclusively to Kay.

“I purchased it myself (in 2014), in advance of the puppy and the spouse (ended up about),” she explained to The Courier Journal with a chortle. “I just constantly desired an old house with character. It necessary some operate, (but) which is what I was searching for.”

Kay took her time working on the property that was crafted in the 1800s, slowly and gradually converting it into a space that would match her design and needs.

“I’m an artist,” she explained. “I do woodworking and painting and (points) like that, so that came in useful.”

She provides that a great deal of her inspiration arrives from films and other aspects of her childhood. “I believe (that when) escalating up,” she explained, “I acquired to do a large amount of matters like portray (and) woodworking (and) no matter what else … because I preferred to beautify my property. So that all sort of played into figuring out how to do it myself.”
